Knife confiscated from pupil at primary school

A knife has been confiscated after being found in a primary school pupil's bag.
The Park Primary School in Kingswood, South Gloucestershire, said staff "immediately" and "safely" took the knife after it was found on Thursday.
The school confirmed the blade was a "standard kitchen knife".
Head of school Paul Rowsell said: "We are taking this incident very seriously and working with the relevant agencies to manage this sensitively and to safeguard all the children and staff in the school."
A South Gloucestershire Council spokesperson said: "We are supporting the school following the incident."
Avon and Somerset Police said: "The knife was confiscated by school staff who then made the police and South Gloucestershire Council aware. No one was injured.
"We recognise how concerning an incident of this nature will be to parents and carers. However, it is something that is incredibly rare."
