A motorway has reopened after a person was taken to hospital following a four-vehicle crash.

The collision happened on the northbound M49 near Bristol, with emergency crews called at about 17:50 GMT on Thursday.

One person was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

National Highways said long delays remain on the carriageway, which was closed for emergency repairs earlier.

The motorway reopened late on Friday afternoon

Crews spent much of Friday carrying out an emergency resurfacing operation after fuel spillages caused significant damage to the road surface.

The M49 northbound between the M5 and the M4 J22 is now open, but motorists are told to expect some delays.
