Man in stable condition after serious A14 crash

A man who was taken to hospital after a serious collision between three vehicles was in a stable condition, police said.

Officers appealed for more information after the crash closed part of the A14 near Cambridge at about 05:14 GMT on Thursday.

The incident involved a Range Rover Evoque, an HGV and a Ford Transit on the eastbound carriageway near Stow cum Quy.

Sgt Mark Atkins said: "I'd like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or believes they saw the vehicles in the build up to it, to contact us."

The driver of the van and a passenger suffered minor injuries, as did the driver of the lorry.

The man in his 20s, who was driving the Range Rover, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital with serious injuries.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, ambulance officer vehicle and a response car from the Magpas Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

"Two patients were transported by road to Addenbrooke's Hospital, one of whom was in a serious condition."
