Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash involving two cars and a tractor.

Police, paramedics and fire crews were called to the A14 Newmarket Bypass westbound carriageway, close to Newmarket, Suffolk, at around 07:00 GMT.

The multi-vehicle collision happened between junction 38, for the A11, and junction 37, for the A142 Fordham Road.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said the two people taken to hospital had minor injuries while one other patient was assessed at the scene.

Posting on social media, Suffolk Police said lane three remained closed at 08:50 for recovery of the vehicles and repairs to the central reservation that had suffered "extensive" damage.

It came after a similar incident in the county, near Ipswich, after a lorry overturned on the A12 southbound carriageway near the Copdock Interchange roundabout.
