Humza Yousaf's brother-in-law to go on trial
The brother-in-law of former first minister Humza Yousaf is to stand trial after he pleaded not guilty to extortion and class A drug offences.
Ramsay El-Nakla, 37, is accused of intimidating a man and extorting money from him using threatening behaviour. He is also accused of being concerned in the supply of cocaine in Dundee.
His co-accused Stephen Stewart, 51, Jennifer Souter, 39, and Victoria McGowan, 42, also face charges on the same indictment including the culpable homicide of 36 year-old Ryan Munro.
Mr El-Nakla entered the not guilty via his legal team at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday.
Ryan Munro was seriously injured after he fell from a block of flats in Dundee on 10 January 2023 and died a week later.
It is alleged the accused, including Mr El-Nakla placed Ryan Munro in a state of fear or alarm, making threats of violence and intimidation and detaining him against his will, causing him to escape via a window at the property.
Stewart, Souter and McGowan are alleged to have killed Mr Munro at the flat in Morgan Street on 10 January.
They are also accused of a separate charge of abducting Mr Munro between 9 and 10 January last year.
El-Nakla is not accused of being involved in the alleged killing.
He is separately accused of being concerned in the supply of cocaine in Dundee.
Along with Stewart and McGowan, he faces a similar charge in relation to heroin.
Lawyers for Stewart, Souter and McGowan also pleaded not guilty on their behalf.
Stewart and Souter have each lodged a special defence of incrimination.
The trial is scheduled to take place in December in Edinburgh.
