Two arrested after man suffers serious injuries

Two people have been arrested after a man in his 20s suffered serious head injuries in an attack.

The assault happened on Thursday in Mill Green Road, Amesbury, at about 23:45 BST, police said.

Two men, aged 22 and 28, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Wiltshire Police said the 22-year-old man was also being questioned over suspected drug possession, drug driving and suspicion of harassment in connection with an incident in Hampshire.

The victim was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers have launched an appeal for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
