Van blaze in town car park caught on camera

Firefighters were called to a blaze in North Quay car park on Thursday

A van burst into flames in a Weymouth car park and damaged another vehicle.

Firefighters were called to North Quay car park at 14:23 BST on Thursday and on arrival found the van "well alight".

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) said one fire engine was mobilised from Weymouth.

A spokesperson said no casualties were reported and "no cause of the fire has been established".

The DWFRS spokesperson added: "Two breathing apparatus wearers used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and no casualties were reported.

"One other vehicle was also damaged by the fire. Our stop was in at 15:23."

A Dorset Council spoksperson said the car park was now open and staff were tidying up the area of the fire.

They added: "There is only one bay that is barriered off until we can repair the surface."
