Penny farthing theft prompts police appeal
An appeal has been made after the theft of a bicycle - a Victorian style penny farthing.
It was last seen inside a garage in Lenton Road, The Park, Nottingham on 15 December, with the victim realising it was missing on 21 December.
Police said the loss was reported to them on 6 January and they have now released the details of the green and gold bicycle in the hope of tracking it down.
Officers said the machine was of significant sentimental value to the victim – as it belonged to her late husband.
Penny farthings are highly recognisable due to the very large front wheel and small rear wheel, which makes them challenging to mount and ride.
While the bicycle was taken a some point during the week before Christmas, police said there was a strong chance it was taken during a break-in at a garage on 18 December.
PC Charlotte Flynn said: "For obvious reasons, the owner is desperate for this distinctive bike to be returned to her.
"We really want to make this happen, so would appeal to anyone who has seen the penny farthing pictured and knows where it might be, to call us so that we can track it down."
