A man has died after he was hit by an HGV on the Clydeside Expressway in Glasgow.

Police Scotland said the incident happened near the point where traffic joins the road from the Kingston Bridge at about 13:30 on Wednesday.

Emergency services attended but a male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said formal identification had not taken place yet.

The busy dual carriageway, which runs from the city centre to the west of Glasgow, was closed in both directions and the road was fully reopened at about 19:20.

Sgt Adnan Alan said: "Our thoughts are with family and friends of the man who died.

"Our inquiries are ongoing and I'd like to thank motorists for their patience whilst we dealt with this incident."

He urged anyone with dashcam footage, or anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
