Human remains found in search for missing man
Police officers searching for a man who went missing nearly two years ago have found human remains in an area of Coventry.
Stefan Watkins, from Warwick, was reported missing on 23 May 2023 after he had not been seen for several weeks.
Warwickshire Police have now said remains were discovered in Charterhouse Fields on Saturday and would be subject to a post-mortem examination.
Formal identification was yet to take place, but Mr Watkins' next of kin and family had been informed, a force spokesperson said.
Police had issued repeated appeals in the search for Mr Watkins, known as Lee or LeeLee, who was last seen leaving his home on 6 May 2023.
The force recently said it remained open-minded as to what may have happened to him but said he "may have come to harm".
A 45-year-old woman from Warwick was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder in July last year and was released with no further action.
