Major road remains shut after Storm Darragh damage
A town centre road in Surrey is to remain closed after panels became loose on a hotel development during Storm Darragh.
Victoria Way in Woking was shut in both directions on 7 December, due to damaged exterior rainscreen panels on the lower levels of the building.
The road was also closed on 25 November following Storm Bert, due to concerns over loose cladding on a high-rise building.
While the loosened panels have been secured, inspections continue to determine the full extent of the damage, Victoria Square Woking Ltd said.
"Unfortunately, until that work is completed, Victoria Way will remain closed to ensure the safety of visitors," it said, adding: "We are working as quickly as possible to reopen the road but can only do so when we and the authorities are satisfied it is safe."
Victoria Square Woking Ltd apologised to anyone affected by the closure.
In October 2021, cladding panels fell off the Hilton hotel in the town, leading to months of road closures while repairs were made.
