A landslip has caused significant delays and train cancellations across both Surrey and Sussex.

The incident happened in the Horley area on Friday evening and National Rail said it expected the disruption to last until the end of Saturday.

Gatwick Express services between Brighton, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria and Thameslink services between Brighton and Cambridge, and Three Bridges and Bedford (stopping via Redhill), had been suspended until the end of the day.

At about 18:30 BST, National Rail said the repairs had been completed.

It said all lines running from both Purley and Redhill to and from Gatwick Airport were able to reopen, although there could still be delays and cancellations.

Network Rail also urged customers to check with their train provider for the latest information on their journeys.

The cause of the landslip has not been confirmed by National Rail.
