Police name man, 79, found dead after 'gas leak'
Police have named a man who was found dead at a house following a suspected gas leak.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to Seddon Street in the Little Hulton area of Salford at about 14:00 GMT on Thursday.
The force said the death of 79-year-old Roger Snelham was not being treated as suspicious.
A file is being prepared for the coroner, said a GMP spokesman, who also appealed for help in locating Mr Snelham's next of kin.
'Condolences'
Neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution while Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service carried out enquiries.
Cadent Gas engineers also attended to ensure the safety of a gas appliance.
Phil Hendrick, Cadent's head of customer operations, offered his company's condolences to the man's family, friends and neighbours.
"Our job in an incident like this is to assist in making sure everything associated with gas is safe," he said.
He added that there were no issues with the local gas network.
