About 100 people have demonstrated in Plymouth city centre as part of a movement promoting women's rights.

Crowds met at The Sundial at about 13:00 GMT before marching to Charles Cross Police Station and back to Guildhall.

March lead Giuliette Alexandria said the aim of the demonstration was "to make sure our voices are heard".

It was one of one of 22 events taking place across the UK, including Exeter, as part of a campaign to end violence against women and protect abortion rights.

Giuliette Alexandria said people were marching for different reasons

Ms Alexandria said: "We're all here for different reasons.

"There's trans rights, there's abortion rights, there's the right to not have intimate partner violence.

"We're all just walking today to make sure our voices are heard."

She said the march in Plymouth "came out of Donald Trump being elected again".

"And realising that sometimes the UK does follow what the US does... we're making sure that we protect our rights as women.

"And making sure that no-one has to stand in it alone."
