Consultation begins on new plans for city

People and businesses are being asked for their views on a new plan setting out the city council's ambitions for Worcester over the next five years.

People have until 19 January to have their say on the draft City Plan 2025-2030.

The new document is designed to steer the council's policies, strategies and services, to deliver its ambitions in the plan and as a basis to attract funding and partners to help achieve its goals, the authority said.

The leaders of the city council's three largest political groups – Labour's Lynn Denham, the Green Party's Louis Stephen and Liberal Democrat Jessie Jagger – have jointly backed the draft plan.

Its objectives were grouped under five themes:

  • A city where everyone can prosper
  • A resilient and sustainable city
  • Strong and engaged communities
  • A heritage city with a vibrant modern culture
  • A healthy and active city.

As well as the online consultation, council officers will also attend focus groups to speak to young people and residents from the city's most deprived communities and get their views.

The results will be fed into a final draft of the plan, the authority said, which will be presented to a full council meeting on 18 February.
