Jayde Adams to headline new comedy festival

Jayde Adams will headline the first ever Bristol Comedy Festival.

The Bristolian comedian and actor joins the likes of Helen Bauer, Mark Watson and Tom Rosenthal for the two-week event.

Running from 12-25 January, the festival will "celebrate comedy in all its forms", with more than 100 events, performances, and workshops across the city.

"I love performing in Bristol and I can't wait to share this show with the city that has shaped so much of my journey," said Ms Adams.

She added: "It's going to be a homecoming like no other and a thrill to perform at the inaugural Bristol Comedy Festival alongside so many other great comedians."

Known for her roles in ITV's Ruby Speaking and the BAFTA-winning Alma's Not Normal, the comedian will close the festival on 25 January at Dareshack in Wine Street as she trials new material.

The Bristol Comedy Festival's co-founder, Burt Williamson, said having Ms Adams headline their first event was "a testament to the talent Bristol nurtures".

"Her journey from local performer to household name mirrors what we aim to achieve in creating opportunities for comedians and bringing world-class acts to Bristol venues."

Vicky Lee, director of Bristol City Centre BID, called the festival "an exciting new addition to Bristol's vibrant cultural scene, perfectly showcasing the city's creativity, diversity, and comedic spirit".

She hopes it will help support the city's venues and hospitality sector.

The event will also raise funds for local homelessness services.
