Jamie Lucas died in hospital after being found injured in the street

A 21-year-old has been charged after a man died following an incident on a North Lanarkshire street.

Jamie Lucas, 33 was found injured on Stirling Street in Airdrie at about 02:45 on Sunday.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The man who has been charged is expected to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Det Ch Insp Jamie Campbell said: "My thoughts remain with Jamie's family and friends. We continue to offer them support at this very difficult time.

"I'd like to thank members of the local community for their support during our investigations."

He urged anyone with concerns to speak to officers and also appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
