A charity that has raised £4,000 for several causes said its Santa float was a tradition children and adults loved to see.

Whittlesey Round Table organises a Santa float every year in the town - which is near Peterborough - in the run up to Christmas, and hopes to "spread cheer" and fundraise for organisations.

Stuart Rayner, chairman of the round table, said this year's touring float started on 29 November and ended at the weekend.

"Adults wait to cheer the Santa float and kids smiling and jumping keeps us going," he said.

Round Table groups are non-political, non-religious and organise events for young men, while supporting local communities and charities.

Mr Rayner said the local branch, which has 18 volunteers, supports different causes and organisations throughout the year with the funds raised during the festive period.

As part of the fundraiser, the Santa float visits every street in Whittlesey. But last week, it had to be cancelled due to high winds from Storm Darragh.

Mr Rayner said Kidney Research UK and Prostate Cancer UK would be the main charities supported in 2025.

"The money we raise is essential for charities," he said.

"Some of them wouldn't be able to continue without the funding support we offer. We still have three nights of visits left so we hope to raise more than what he have already.

"On Saturday, we also have the Whittlesey Extravaganza in the town centre with craft and festive stalls - hoping to attract a good crowd."
