Man dies after being hit by car as he crossed road

A man has died after being struck by a car as he crossed the road in Blackpool.
It happened on a pedestrian crossing on Plymouth Road, close to the junction with Mowbray Drive, at about 19:55 GMT on Monday, Lancashire Police said.
A man in his 70s from St Annes suffered serious injuries and was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment where he later died.
A 43-year-old man from Blackpool was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is in custody.
Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
