Man dies and three injured in four-vehicle crash

A man has died and three others were injured in a four-vehicle crash near a busy roundabout.
Durham Police said the crash happened on the A689 at Rushyford, in County Durham, at about 11:15 BST on Monday.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was also called to the scene and the injured were taken to hospital.
The A689 was closed between the A1 at Bradbury and Rushyford roundabout for several hours, police said.
A North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) spokesperson said: "We dispatched three ambulance crews, one duty officer, one specialist paramedic and were supported by our colleagues at the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
"Two patients were taken hospital by road for further treatment, one to James Cook University Hospital and the other patient was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital."
