A road was closed in Jersey for several hours while emergency repairs are carried on a burst water main.

Jersey Water posted on Facebook at about 07:35 BST on Monday it sent engineers to Pier Road, St Helier, after receiving reports of a problem with the mains network.

A road closure from the car park to the junction of Mulcaster Street was set up by Jersey Police.

A spokesperson for Jersey Water said the repair was completed by about 15:00 and apologised for any inconvenience caused while the work took place.

The spokesperson said customers in the area might have experienced low water pressure for about 30 minutes from 10:45 as a result of the work going on.

They added people who wanted to access the Pier Road car park could still do so via Mount Bingham while the repairs were carried out.
