Bicester North Station car park refurbishment works to start next week

Refurbishment work to improve an Oxfordshire rail station car park is due to begin.

Starting on Monday, the changes to Bicester North Station are part of a £3.8m investment by Chiltern Railways.

The work includes replacing the old upper deck car park with a new ground-level one and refurbishing the customer toilets.

Michael Stewart, from Chiltern Railways, said the work was "crucial" and would enable "easier, greener and better journeys".

The main car park will be part closed from March and the lower Woodyard car park will reopen to offer additional space.

From March commuters to London Marylebone are being advised to use Bicester Village car park.

Commuters travelling to stations towards Birmingham, who are unable to secure a parking space at Bicester North, will be able to use a free shuttle bus to travel between Bicester Village and Bicester North.

Once completed the station's car park will have the capacity for a total of 365 cars.

Mr Stewart said: "I would like to thank customers and local residents for their patience while the project is being carried out."
