Children aged 16 and under will be able to swim for free from 19 July until 1 September

Children across East Yorkshire will be able to swim for free throughout the summer.

East Riding Leisure are offering free swimming sessions for children aged 16 and under from 19 July to 1 September.

Eight leisure centres are involved in the scheme and will host two free one-hour sessions per week.

Councillor Nick Coultish said: "This is a great benefit not only for children but also gives parents, carers and grandparents the opportunity to have fun and stay active."

The centres holding free swimming sessions are:

  • Beverley
  • Bridlington
  • Driffield
  • Francis Scaife in Pocklington
  • Haltemprice
  • Hornsea
  • South Holderness
  • Withernsea

The sessions will operate on a first come, first served basis. No bookings are required.

The timetable for free swimming sessions can be found on the council's website.
