A sickness and diarrhoea outbreak at Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin is "steadily improving", NHS Grampian has said.

Only essential visitors have been allowed at the Moray hospital since the outbreak was confirmed last weekend.

The number of patients affected is said to be decreasing, and staff who have been unwell are gradually returning to work.

Restrictions on visiting will remain over the weekend, and will be reviewed early next week.

Essential visitors include parents of child patients, family of patients at the end of life, carers and supporters for those with dementia or learning disabilities, and supporters for pregnancy and childbirth.
