Hospital rated good by CQC after concerns raised

A hospital in Bradford has been rated as good by the health watchdog after a number of whistleblowers raised concerns about care.

An unannounced inspection was carried out at St Luke's Hospital by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The inspectors found the whistleblowers' concerns were unsubstantiated and the hospital was effective and well led.

Although the inspectors were reassured about the quality of care at the site, a CQC spokesperson said the organisation was "grateful for the feedback that people chose to submit which prompted the inspection".

The hospital maintained its good rating and the inspectors said the site's rating for safety had been upgraded from requiring improvement to good.

The CQC also found the correct processes were in place for complaints, incidents and risks to be reviewed, lessons learned and actions planned.

Staff were based in bays on wards to provide regular observations and monitoring of people at risk, such as for falls, the report said.

The hospital also had relevant information promoting healthy lifestyles and support on wards.
