Prosecutors have dropped a case against a man who was arrested at a hotel and charged with child sex offences.

Ryan Loveday, 20, of Valetta Way in Rochester, Kent, was detained at the Travelodge in Ryde, Isle of Wight, on 2 February.

He was later charged with engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl between 13 and 15, engaging in non-penetrative activity with a girl between 13 and 15 and attempted sexual assault by penetration of a girl aged 13 and over.

The case was discontinued on Friday due to insufficient evidence, Newport Crown Court said.
