Camborne property closed to reduce anti-social behaviour

A property that had prompted complaints of disorder and anti-social behaviour has been closed down by police and the council.

Devon and Cornwall Police's Camborne team and Cornwall Council's anti-social behaviour team joined forces to get a closure order for the property.

The force said no-one would be able to enter the property, on Adelaide Street, for the next three months.

Officers also attempted to engage with the tenants to resolve the issues.

Police said the anti-social behaviour was having a "significant, detrimental impact on the surrounding community".

Camborne's new Inspector Louisa Brown thanked the community for raising concerns and both the police and council said they were pleased that Truro Magistrates' Court granted the full closure for the property.

She said: "We believe this is a really positive result and will improve the lives of local residents."

Collaborative work between Camborne neighbourhood policing team and partner agencies will continue for the three-month period the closure order is in place.

Both local police and the council said they have proactively engaged with residents to encourage them to report any suspected breaches of the closure order.

Any breaches of the order can be punishable with imprisonment, a fine or both.
