Woman taken to hospital after Cornwall 'chemical spill'

Four people became unwell after a lorry driver crashed into a "chemical tank" in Cornwall, police say.

Devon and Cornwall Police say one woman was taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital as a precaution following the incident on private land at Lanivet, near Bodmin.

The force said multiple emergency services attended the scene on Wednesday at about 3:25 GMT.

Four people, including the woman who was taken to hospital, became unwell, police added.

A police spokesperson said: "The fire and ambulance services, as well as the Environment Agency were also called.

"Four people became unwell and one woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.

"Local closures were put in place while the scene was made safe and a vehicle removed."

South Western Ambulance Service said they attended with a double-crewed land ambulance, an operations officer and a hazardous area response team.

A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: "Officers investigated the site and, fortunately, found there had been no impacts on the environment."
