The council wants to improve the area around Church Walk

A car park in a Leicestershire town will be closed for two months as work on the next phase of a regeneration scheme gets under way.

Improvements are planned along Church Walk, in Hinckley, as part of a £1.85m project to revitalise the town centre.

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council said the Church Walk car park would be shut from 2 January to late February as the street was revamped.

It will remain open for disabled parking, the council said.

Council leader Stuart Bray said: "I would like thank residents, businesses, and visitors in advance for their patience and apologise for any short-term inconvenience as we undertake these important improvements to the town centre's public spaces.

"We intend to fully reopen this popular town centre car park when the works are completed retaining all current spaces."

The council said it hoped its Hinckley High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) scheme would be complete by spring 2024.
