Fugitive rapist spoke of 'witch hunt' to friends in US before arrest

The crimes of an Inverness serial rapist who faked his own death have been explored in a BBC Disclosure documentary.

Kim Avis had been on bail, facing sexual abuse charges in Scotland when he fled to the US, faked his own death at one of California's most dangerous beaches and went on the run.

Months later, a man, who said his name was Cameron MacGregor, arrived at a stall selling rocks and gemstones in the mountains near Colorado Springs, about 1,300 miles from where Avis went missing.

The stall was run by a woman called Angie.

After becoming friends, Angie began to feel like things weren't quite right and no longer believed Cameron MacGregor was who he said he was.

"He kept talking about a witch hunt," said Angie.

He was convicted of a total of 14 charges and jailed for 15 years.
