Watch: The Glen Sannox ferry saga in two minutes

The new ferry built at the nationalised Ferguson shipyard has finally been handed over to CalMac - exactly seven years after it was launched in Port Glasgow.

The ship was originally due for delivery in May 2018, but the build was hit by design struggles and disputes over rising costs.

CalMac will now conduct several weeks of crew familiarisation trials before the ferry carries its first passengers on the Arran route in January.

The contracts for Glen Sannox and an identical ship, Glen Rosa, were awarded in 2015, a year after Ferguson's, the last commercial shipyard on the Clyde, was rescued from administration by businessman Jim McColl.

Watch key moments in the saga at Ferguson's over the past ten years.
