Several businesses affected in overnight fire

A blaze engulfed Severn Farm Industrial Estate in Welshpool, Powys, on Tuesday evening.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue service said it was called at 22:25 GMT and continued working at the site into Wednesday morning.

"Crews responded to a fire within a single-storey industrial building consisting of seven commercial units," a spokesman said.

The service said four units were damaged by fire and three damaged by smoke and heat.

Crews from Welshpool, Montgomery, Llanfair Caereinion, Llanfyllin, Newtown and Presteigne, were assisted by crews from Shropshire in tackling the fire.

Residents were advised to keep doors and windows closed until the matter was resolved.

Crews left just after 11.00 on Wednesday.
