Watch: When the London Eye was lifted into place
Sunday marks a quarter of a century since the London Eye opened.
While its ceremonial opening was on 31 December 1999, it wasn't used by the paying public until 9 March 2000.
One of the most-popular tourist attractions in the country, more than 70 million rides have been taken on its famous pods overlooking the River Thames.
Installing the cantilevered wheel wasn't easy. It was constructed off site and floated up the Thames on barges before being assembled and lifted into place.
We've gone back into the archives to show how the wheel was lifted into place.
