Man arrested after city centre stabbing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after another man was stabbed in Hull city centre.

Officers said they responded to reports of an alleged stabbing following an argument outside a pub in Carr Lane at about 02:00 BST on Saturday.

A man was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening, Humberside Police said.

The arrested man, aged 34, remains in police custody.

Det Insp Paul Farmer said: "I understand given the nature of this incident it will be concerning to the local community.

"However, I want to reassure residents that our investigation is ongoing as we work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident."

He added there is "no indication of a wider risk to the public".

Anyone with information or CCTV is asked to contact police.
