A topping out ceremony has been held to mark a new apartment block in Telford reaching its highest point.

The 84-dwelling block will be delivered alongside 33 town houses and maisonettes by Telford and Wrekin Council's housing company, Nuplace.

It will consist of one and two-bedroom apartments, while the additional homes will be a mix of one, two and three-bed properties.

The authority said the apartments would be available to reserve from autumn 2025 and ready for occupation in spring 2026.

Alongside the apartment block, a further 72 affordable homes are being delivered by Legal & General Affordable Homes.

The residential work is part of the Station Quarter project, which has already delivered a digital skills hub for students called The Quad.

A grant of £4.725m was secured from the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) to support the delivery of the residential scheme.

Councillor Richard Overton, deputy leader of the council, said this was an "exciting milestone".

"The development of high-quality, sustainable town centre living at Station Quarter is responding to Telford's need for one and two-bedroom homes in accessible locations, offering a mix of private and affordable rent and shared ownership options," he added.

Mayor of the West Midlands, Richard Parker, said: "Developments like Station Quarter provide local people with the safe, warm and affordable housing they so badly need and deserve."

"I've seen first-hand how building affordable housing can change people's lives for the better – especially for those forced to wait too long in temporary accommodation.

"That's why my 'Homes for Everyone' priority is focused on unlocking thousands more affordable and social homes for the people and communities that need them most."
