Doncaster Rovers were crowned League Two champions after they beat Notts County on Saturday

Thousands of Doncaster Rovers fans have come together to celebrate their team being crowned League Two champions at a special event at the Eco-Power Stadium.

Supporters packed out the venue on Tuesday for the celebration, with players and staff showing off the trophy.

It came after the team sealed the league title with victory away at Notts County on Saturday.

Among those celebrating was Rovers fan Ady Good, who praised the "communication between the team and the team spirit".

Mr Good highlighted striker Rob Street's contribution to the team, with the on loan Lincoln City player scoring both goals in the win over Notts County to secure the title.

"I think he has been absolutely outstanding this season, he really turned the team around for us," he told the BBC.

Assistant manager Cliff Byrne says the team learned from their experiences last season

One of the first fans to arrive at the celebration event was Lauren, who said: "To go up in such style is fantastic.

"It was tricky at the start of the season but after Christmas they got back on track and it's been amazing."

Fellow supporter John, who has been a fan for 62 years, said: "Unbelievable really. It's been brilliant this season."

The joy of promotion came 12 months after the side were beaten in the League Two play-off semi finals, losing on penalties to Crewe.

Speaking on Tuesday, assistant manager Cliff Byrne said the promotion "really means a lot".

"It's been difficult to achieve, but it's ever so sweet when you do achieve it."
