Long delays formed on the M25 and the A21 following a lorry fire which closed the road on Thursday morning.

National Highways said that it had responded to the fire at 07:54 GMT on the southbound carriageway of the A21 near Sevenoaks.

Delays of 90 minutes were reported between junction three (Swanley) and junction five (for Sevenoaks) but the road has since reopened.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it sent four fire engines to scene and the fire was extinguished.

There were no reported injuries and the cause is not yet known.

Kent Police said it also attended and traffic was held on the M25 and M26 while the fire was extinguished.

The slip road from the clockwise carriageway of the M25 onto the A21 was also closed but has since reopened.

Elsewhere in Kent, the M2 temporarily closed due to a crash involving four vehicles on the London-bound carriageway, between junctions five (A249) and four (Hempstead).

No injuries were reported.
