Dead dogs found dumped in rubbish bags at car park
Three dead dogs have been found dumped in rubbish bags at a car park in south Wales.
The animals were found at about 09:00 GMT on Monday, 30 December at Pentrebach car park on Brown Street, Merthyr Tydfil.
They were all female - one black spaniel type, a white and ginger terrier type and a small white terrier who had black markings to her face - and were all found in separate black plastic bags near a small brick building.
The RSPCA has launched an appeal for any information relating to how they died.
Kirsty Morgan, the animal rescue officer who collected the bodies, said the vet estimated they had been deceased a couple of days and were about four years old.
"Each of the dogs had wood shavings on their coat, around their mouths, and were wet. Two dogs appeared to be of reasonable body condition but one was very thin," she said.
"Alongside them was also a bag of woodshavings which included a cable tie, dog toy and a piece of wood. The bottom of the bag was sodden in urine.
"Unfortunately none of the dogs were microchipped so we're unable to find out who they belonged to."
It is currently unknown how they died and there is no CCTV that points at the location.
Ms Morgan added: "Whatever has happened here, it is very sad that these dogs have died and we'd like to thank the person for contacting us so we can make enquiries."
