City footbridge reopened after investigation work

A footbridge across the River Hull has reopened to pedestrians following investigation work.
Several of Scale Lane Bridge's bearings were found to need replacing following a routine inspection in 2024.
A contractor has conducted thorough investigations and confirmed the bridge is safe for pedestrians, Hull City Council said.
The council said it would create a comprehensive repair scheme for the bridge which is expected to be implemented later this year.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways, said: "As with all the city's bridges, Scale Lane is a complex structure, with intricate engineering processes and we are keen to futureproof it for generations to come."
