Small yellow pills have been circulating in Cumbria, police say

Police have issued a warning over a batch of harmful illegal yellow pills that could cause overdoses.

Cumbria Police said the small, circular pills, believed to be a type of opioid, could have an O, P or D branded on them.

The pills are believed to contain oxycodone, a painkiller which is only available on prescription.

The force warned people that if they took illegal drugs there were no guarantees of what they contained.

A police spokesman said: "Officers, as always, would urge those who are using or considering using substances that are illegal or have not been prescribed to them to consider the potential consequences."

Anyone with information about the drugs circulating across Cumbria is asked to contact police.
