City footbridge to close for 'investigatory work'

A footbridge across the River Hull will be closed to the public later this week, officials said.
Several of Scale Lane Bridge's bearings were found to need replacing following a routine inspection in 2024.
Hull City Council said "investigatory work" would begin on Tuesday.
The bridge will be left in the open position during the work, with further details shared once the investigation is complete, said officials. The work is expected to be completed by Friday.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways, said: "Investigatory works are now planned that will not only address the immediate repair needs of the bridge but will have the added benefit of re-opening it as a safe and accessible pedestrian crossing, which will help mitigate the potential disruption from our planned programme of works on Drypool Bridge that will start in the spring."
