There's no gritter honour for BBC weather presenter
A BBC weather presenter's dream has come true with a gritter being named after him.
Look North's Paul Hudson was invited to a ceremony on Tuesday where the new snowplough's name was revealed.
"Snowfall Hudson" was unveiled at Willingham Gritting Depot, near Market Rasen, by Lincolnshire County Council.
The presenter said the experience was "beyond a dream".
Other contenders for the name were Rock Salt Hudson, Paul the Gritterman and Forecast Hudson, but Snowfall Hudson stole the crown.
"I've had a weather station in my back garden since I was seven. The idea that a forecaster and somebody obsessed with the weather can have his own snowplough is just beyond a dream," Hudson said.
It comes after BBC presenter Peter Levy and Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher had gritters in neighbouring East Yorkshire dedicated to them.
Hudson said: "I didn't have a clue... We've been banging on about it on the television because Peter has got Sleeter Levy and I gave up on my dream of having a gritter, but it's all come good."
Richard Davies, Lincolnshire County Council's executive member for highways, said seeing Hudson's face at the unveiling was "akin to Christmas Day".
And the BBC might need to find a replacement weather presenter as Hudson teases his new career.
"I think I'm going to jack television in and just become a gritter driver," he said.
