A Surrey charity which provides animal-assisted learning to disabled young people has announced that it could close if it does not find a new site by Easter.

Change of Scene, which has been running its farm in Farnham for 16 years, began fundraising to find another 12-acre site after discovering that its intended new home was a shooting ground.

It now faces a last-ditch battle for survival, as it has not met its £300,000 target.

"We have until Easter to find our new home. If we cannot, Change of Scene will have no choice but to close," the charity said.

"We need funds to buy a piece of land that's bigger than 12 acres, has good access from the road, where we will be able to install a building and set ourselves up for our future.

"Without funds, we will have to close. This will mean the end of Change of Scene and failing the young people who rely on us."

The charity previously said it had been looking for a new home for more than four years.
