Bomb squad attend Northampton's market square revamp site
Bomb disposal experts have determined a "suspicious object" found at a market square undergoing an £8.5m renovation was not dangerous, police said.
A cordon in Northampton town centre has been lifted after an area was closed off during the morning.
Northamptonshire Police said it wanted to "find the person who left this item and ascertain if any criminal offences were committed".
Work to renovate the square, which dates back to 1235, began in January.
Police said: "We have now lifted the cordon in the town centre following an assessment by the Explosive Ordnance Unit (EOD) which deemed the object to not be dangerous."
