CCTV shows footage of crossbow killer Kyle Clifford buying duct tape and fuel cans from two stores.
The 26-year-old admits murder and false imprisonment after killing his ex-partner Louise Hunt, her sister Hannah and their mother Carol in Bushey, near Watford, in July.
He denies a further charge of raping Louise Hunt and the footage, from Toolstation and Halfords, was played to the jury on the opening day of the trial at Cambridge Crown Court.
The jury has heard he restrained her against her will. The trial continues.
