Eight fire crews and RAF tanker fight forest blaze

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were called to woodland near Barton Mills

Multiple fire crews have been tackling a blaze in woodland.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to Barton Mills, near Mildenhall at 04:42 BST, where an area of land covering four hectares (9.9 acres) was ablaze.

Crews from Elmswell, Haverhill and Bury St Edmunds attended, while a tanker from RAF Lakenheath was brought in to help at 08:50.

A spokesperson for the fire service said there were no reports of casualties and crews would remain in the area for the rest of the day.

Crews were also supported by an operation support unit, the fire service said

At 09:30 the fire service said progress was being made, but 75% of the area was still alight
