A teenager who was stabbed to death in a village has been named by police.

Tawana Choruma, 19, was found injured in Station Road, Netley, shortly before 18:30 GMT on Wednesday and had died at the scene, said Hampshire police.

Three 18-year-old men from the Southampton area have been arrested on suspicion of murder, with one of them also arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property.

A police spokesman said: "Tawana's family are being supported by specialist officers at this time."

A 36-year-old woman from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but no further action was being taken for that offence, the force said.

The woman was also arrested for possession with intent to supply a class B drug and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. She has been released on bail.

The spokesman also urged local residents to check their bins for a mobile phone that might have been discarded nearby.
